About EquinArt Creations
Dear customer and visitor - and fellow horse enthusiast!
Welcome to EquinArt Creations! My name is Jeanne Grunert. Together with my husband
John, we run EquinArt Creations part time from our farm in Virginia, Seven Oaks. I've been
a model horse collector since 1974. I've leased and shown real live horses too, ranging
from Arabians to off the race track Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, Appaloosas, and draft
horse cross horses. I've ridden and shown in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association
and in hunt seat equitation, dressage, and Western pleasure and reining.
I began collecting model horses in 1974, and in the 1980's I was really active photo
showing and running my little model horse journal. Then real horses came along and my
models collected dust as soon as I got my driver's license and I could drive to the barn for
my lessons. College, graduate school, and a career as a writer and marketing manager -
as well as a subsequent move to a tiny apartment I lived in for over a decade - meant that
my models remained packed away in storage.
In 2004 while finishing my graduate-level degree in Online Marketing from New York
University, I needed a topic for my thesis. I chose a model horse business. I missed my
models and I remembered how much fun they were, but also how much fun it was to shop
and order through direct mail! One thing led to another, and my thesis won several
awards, including some prize money. I decided to invest the prize money into a real model
horse business and EquinArt Creations was born.
EquinArt Creations is a company and separate from my own showing and collecting
interests. We welcome new artists with Artist Resin model horses, dogs, cats or wildlife
sculptures. All works MUST be original - even the framework cannot be a Breyer, Stone or
another company's horse. If you're interested in having your work for sale through EquinArt
Creations, please call or email me.
Today, John and I live and work together on a 17 acre organic farm in rural Virginia. We
raise timber, fruit, vegetables and herbs. I own another company, Seven Oaks Consulting,
and work there full time providing marketing consulting and freelance writing services for
the alternative health, diet, fitness and spiritual community. We work on EquinArt
Creations on the weekends and in the mornings. And I still love my model horses
although today my interest is in minis - Stablemate scale and below. Hey, you can pack
more on a shelf that way!
